"Valley of the Heart"— a "memory play" drawn from the real-life experience of acclaimed playwright Luis Valdez — is the story of two families, the Yamaguchis and the Montaños, who bridge the divide of race and class only to face the explosive repercussions of the attack on Pearl Harbor and WWII.

From the fertile "Valley of Heart's Delight" in the foothills of Northern California's Santa Clara Valley in 1941 to Heart Mountain Internment Camp in Wyoming in 1945, "Valley of the Heart" projects history through a  powerful new prism—the romance, heartbreak, and fight for survival of Teruko "Thelma" Yamaguchi and Benjamin Montaño, as they navigate uncommon family ties toward a turbulent uncertain destiny.

Produced in 2013 to critical and audience acclaim at El Teatro Campesino playhouse, "Valley of the Heart" returned for a second run by popular demand.
